Fall 2025 - Wilderness Survival 101
Calling Michigan Youth interested in wilderness and survival training! Are you tough? Don’t mind getting a little dirty? Ready for an adventure? Do you want to learn about primitive survival skills, shelter building, knot tying, edible plants, navigation and more? MI-IMPACT will provide admitted youth with a full scholarship to ARCTURUS PRIMITIVE SKILLS INSTITUTE for a weekend of learning in the Michigan Wilderness!

Eligibility Requirements: Youth ages 12-17 (no exceptions) who are interested in wilderness and survival training are invited to apply. One Parent or Guardian MUST attend this weekend program with each youth.

*Youth (AND A PARENT/GUARDIAN) MUST be available the weekend of October 10-12 OR October 17-19! Classes will be held at ARCTURUS PRIMITIVE SKILLS INSTITUTE near Muskegon, Michigan. All participants must have transportation to and from the Arcturus training site.
PLEASE NOTE: For this program, your child must be emotionally and physically able/ready to participate in an intense training weekend. The Friday evening to Sunday afternoon courses include but are not limited to creating fire, building shelter, safe use of knives, eating foraged foods, and well…. “going” in the woods… if you get our drift. This is NOT glamping. Think more Discovery Channel gone kid-friendly. Simple meals will be provided. This program will run rain or shine… or snow… or bugs.

- Tent (for 2)
- Sleeping System (for 2)
- Camping Chair (for 2)
- Bug Spray
- Knife
- Ferro Rod

Packing List for Youth/Adult (you bring):
- Clothing (weather appropriate - including rain gear if needed)
- Pillow/Extra Blankets
- Cooler with Water/Extra Food/Snacks
- Notepad/Pencil
- Closed Toe Shoes/Boots

PLEASE READ AND CONFIRM THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS BEFORE COMPLETING YOUR APPLICATION AND SIGNING BELOW:
1. I understand there is inherent danger in wilderness/survival training, and I will ensure my youth uses caution and follows all instructor directions.
2. I am available on the weekends of October 10th or October 17th.
3. I can provide my own transportation to and from the Muskegon, Michigan area.
4. I have health insurance for myself and my youth.
5. The parent/guardian attending this training with my youth is willing to have a simple background check completed to ensure safety of all youth participants.
6. I have access to the items listed under"Packing List" (see above).

Application Materials: Provide a picture copy of a valid Michigan parent/guardian photo ID in a PNG or JPEG format, a picture copy of a valid medical insurance card in a PNG or JPEG, and a PDF copy of one supporting youth identification document. Preferred supporting youth identification document is a youth report card. If you do not have a report card you may use a community record, church record, state record, extracurricular record, bill, insurance document or any other third-party document with the child’s name, age/grade and address. Self-created documents will not be accepted. Thank you.​
